CarbonCure, Airgas partner to offer CO2 concrete technology in U.S.

DARTMOUTH—Nova Scotia-based CarbonCure Technologies has partnered with Airgas, an Air Liquide company, to increase adoption of its CO2 utilization technology in the Gulf Coast of the United States.

CarbonCure’s solution injects CO2 sourced from refineries of industrial emitters into wet concrete while its mixed, mineralizing the CO2. This process aims to strengthen concrete, lower production costs and reduce CO2 emissions.

As part of the partnership, Airgas will offer concrete producers with a CO2 supply and service solution, supported by its Gulf Coast distribution network.

“This turn-key CarbonCure and Airgas offering will make it easier than ever for concrete producers to realize new production cost efficiencies while reducing concrete’s carbon footprint,” says Robert Niven, CEO of CarbonCure. “At the same time, this collaboration allows CarbonCure and Airgas to jointly unlock the growing CO2 utilization market.”
